AeroPress: a more flexible alternative at home
Small, portable, and fast — a step-by-step guide to a clean, full-bodied cup with the AeroPress in under two minutes.

The AeroPress is maybe the most flexible coffee brewer out there — small, portable, tough, and capable of a clean, full-bodied cup in under two minutes.
What you’ll need
An AeroPress, paper or metal filter, a scale with a timer, a kettle, and freshly ground coffee at a medium-fine grind — about the texture of table salt.
The ratio
Start with a 1:15 ratio — 15g of coffee to 225ml of water at 85–90°C. Deliberately cooler than the V60, so the plunger’s pressure doesn’t over-extract it.
The method
Place the filter, rinse it, add the coffee, and pour all the water at once. Stir for 10 seconds, let it steep for 1 minute, then slowly press the plunger over 20–30 seconds.
Why it earns its spot
Unlike the V60, the plunger’s pressure allows a faster extraction without needing a perfect pouring technique — ideal for travel or a quick morning.
